Chinese records dating back 5,000 years document the use of foot massage. The ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians, as well as the Japanese, Romans and Egyptians applied forms of massage for many ailments; and even Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems.

Thai Massage is a wonderful combination of energy work and bodywork. This massage works on the energy channels on the soles of the feet and lowers legs, stimulating smooth energy flow and improved circulation as well as encouraging balance and relaxation. Thai foot massage is done with the client lying on a floor mat, with the legs raised on a small foot - stool. 

The massage begins with the stimulation of energy flows in the feet and some foot and ankle stretches, which loosen and encourage flexibility.

Thai foot massage differs from other forms of foot massage in that it focuses a great deal on stimulating healthy energy flow in the body, and also in the use of a specially shaped stick to stimulate reflex points. The massage is designed to balance the body and energy system and is effective in relieving pain and many health problems. It is used as a tool for maintaining good health and well – being and form a uniquely releasing and energising treatment.

Some techniques that may be used in Thai Foot Massage are:

•         Deep tissue manipulation & targeted use of reflexology points using a special ‘stick’.

•         Energy balancing by following your Sen Meridian lines.

•         Lymphatic drainage massage up to the knee.
